Deer Blinds
There is nothing like a great day building deer blinds. Each year for the past 30 years, the S-V Outdoorsmen Club has been taking a day to build "deer blinds" for our hunt. Hosting 30+ disabled deer hunters is no easy task, providing them with brushed in blind locations is even harder. Outdoorsmen scout deer sign on Rend Lake Corps of Engineer property and select between 25 to 30 blind locations. Each location is cleared through the Corps for safety, accessibility, and herd management.
Once the blind location is approved, the members begin early on a Saturday morning building the straw bail blinds and brushing them in. Work continues on all blind sites until noon. We meet for lunch, regroup and attack the remaining blinds sites. Although many would say it is a lot of work, this is a day that is looked forward to by most members.
